We have many years of experience designing balconies, staircases, balustrades and other features incorporating architectural steelwork. For this reason, it often makes sense for us to get involved in the design process as early as possible. We can liaise with you or your architect to ensure that your building project is, for example, ‘balcony-friendly’ - something which can save considerable amounts of time and money as the build progresses.
Planning and Listed Building Consent
We have a strong track record in securing planning permission for the installation of balconies. Based on a number of relevant factors, we can quickly assess whether a balcony is likely to be acceptable to your local planning authority. In many cases, specific design features of the balcony can be tweaked so as to increase the chances of an application being successful.
For a modest fee the balcony company can manage the planning application on your behalf.
Building Regulations
All of our designs comply with the relevant building regulations including :
- BS6180 : the Code of Practise for Barriers in and about Buildings. - BS6399 : Loading for Buildings
Our design service includes structural calculations which are supported by full professional indemnity insurance.
Drawings and 3-Dimensional Visualisations
As part of our service we can prepare drawings as well as 3-dimensional visualisations of our designs. This enables our customers to better understand the proposed installation and provide feedback prior to finalisation of the design.
Design Challenges
When a client presents us with a particular design ‘headache’, we usually find that we have dealt with a similar issue on a previous project, enabling us to propose a suitable solution. However, we enjoy being presented with new challenges that force us to think hard and come up with original and cost-effective solutions. If you have such a challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
