Terms and Conditions
When we accept your order in writing, or if sooner, when we commence work on your order, a legally binding contract is created between you and The Balcony Company under which we agree to design, manufacture and install your balcony or staircase. To avoid any misunderstanding, we have set out below what we will do, what we need you to do and a few other important pieces of information. Please read this document and let us know if you have any questions.
What we will do.
1. We will promptly confirm to you the date on which we aim to start installing your balcony or staircase.
2. If you have asked us to apply for planning permission, once we receive payment of our fees for this service and the planning application fee, we will submit the planning application to your local authority and let you know how the application is progressing.
3. Where necessary, we will obtain additional information to help us with our design, manufacture and installation processes.
4. We will ensure that our design conforms to all Building Regulations and Safety Standards including BS 6180 the British Standard for Barriers In and About Buildings (this sets out the statutory requirements for loadings, material specifications, maximum gaps in structures and minimum heights of balustrades etc.).
5. We will ensure that all materials used in the manufacturing process are fit for purpose and obtained from sustainable sources wherever possible.
6. We will ensure that as far as possible all of our waste materials are re-used or re-cycled.
7. We will manufacture your order in accordance with our quotation and to exacting standards in our own modern facility which is compliant with all Health and Safety Regulations. If we need to make any changes to the design once we have started manufacture, we will discuss these changes with you.
8. We will select the most appropriate finish for your order (i.e. all external steelwork will be hot-dipped galvanised to prevent corrosion, all external stainless steel will be marine grade and all glass will be toughened with polished edges).
9. Our team will arrive on the agreed day and the installation engineers will have the skills and experience necessary to complete the work to a high standard.
10. When we have finished the installation work, we will take away all surplus materials, tidy-up and leave your property as we found it.
Once the balcony or staircase has been installed, you will have the benefit of a 10 year warranty from us against design, manufacturing or installation defects. This guarantee will not affect your statutory rights in any way and shows our firm commitment to our products.
What we expect you to do.
1. To co-operate in allowing us to survey the site and gain access to your premises once works begin.
2. To provide us with information about your premises when we ask for it.
3. If we haven’t agreed that we will do so, to ensure that all necessary planning permissions are in place before we start work.
4. Where appropriate, to prepare the site as agreed in advance
5. To inform us if the proposed installation dates need to be changed (this will enable us to plan our work schedules efficiently)
6. To pay us in line with the agreed dates (which will be set out in our quotation). Please note that title to our products remains vested in us and will not pass to you until the purchase price has been paid in full and received by us.
What we both need to do
Our team will treat you with courtesy and consideration at all times and we expect this to be reciprocated.
What to do if there is a problem
We are confident that you will be pleased with our products and service. If you are not, please let us know. In the unlikely event that a problem arises which we cannot resolve concerning the quality of our product, where appropriate, we will ask an independent structural engineer to look at the problem and follow his or her decision.
